Due to health issues Phil Woods has announced his retirement from performing. Live at Chan's was Phil's last live recording with the Prince of Be Bop, Greg Abate. Also featured are world class all stars, Mark Walker-drums, John Lockwood-bass, & Tim Ray-piano. A special evening of music this will be. At Chan's, Greg Abate and his all star band are dedicating the October 3rd performance to jazz giant, the great Phil Woods, for his enormous body of work and his contribution to the world of jazz. During Phil's illustrious career, he has inspired and mentored many young musicians. It must have been a difficult decision for Phil to retire from performing. We wish Phil and his lovely wife Jill the very best of health and happiness.

Honored by The National Endowment for the Arts and one of the undisputed masters of the jazz piano, Kenny Barron has an unmatched ability to mesmerize audiences with his elegant playing, sensitive melodies and infectious rhythms. The Los Angeles Times named him “one of the top jazz pianists in the world” and Jazz Weekly calls him “The most lyrical piano player of our time.” Don’t miss this very special engagement with one of the most important and influential mainstream jazz pianists since the bebop era. This performance is co-presented with Whaling City Sound.
