ISF - India call for proposals

The program promotes research collaboration among Israeli and Indian scientists, with support provided by an agreement between the Israel Science Foundation (ISF) and the India University Grants Commission (UGC).
 
Topics for this year are Environmental Sciences and Earth Sciences.

NSF-BSF Program EDGE (Enabling Discovery through Genomic Tools)
(within Integrative Organismal System Division)
  
EDGE will support projects that aim to develop functional genomic tools and infrastructure for manipulating genes in diverse organisms.
 
 
A Letter of intent by the American PI is due by April 28, 2017.
By the same date, The Israeli Scientist needs open a proposal file, registering on the BSF system.

REMINDER- HFSP - Human Frontiers Science Program- LOI

HFSP, the premier funding agency for supporting innovative, cutting edge research on the frontiers of the life sciences, has opened the 2018 cycle, which begins with the submission of a Letter of Intent.
1. Young Investigator Grants- for teams where all members are within 5 years of starting  their first independent position (and within 10 years of receiving a PhD).
2. Program Grants- for teams of scientists at any stage of their careers.
 
Note:An Israeli can be a member of a team but cannot be the official leader/submitter. 
 
 
Deadline for registration for submitting a Letter of Intent: March 20, 2017.

Centers for Disease Control - Identify, Characterize and Evaluate Potential Environmental Risk Factors on the Incidence and Progression of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
 
The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is soliciting investigator initiated research which will identify and characterize environmental toxicants in human biological samples that may be potential environmental risk factors for Amyotrophic Lateral  Sclerosis (ALS). 
 
Applications are also sought that will evaluate the impact of environmental toxicants on the development and progression of ALS, including gene-environment interactions.
 
 
Early consultation with RDA staff is essential - If you consider yourself a candidate or if you have collaborators, please update us at least one month prior to the cycle's deadline. Interested parties must register – with  RDA assistance -  on era commons .

National Geographic Society: Research Grants in Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences
 
National Geographic welcomes applications from around the world, and specifically encourages applicants from outside the United States to apply. Applicants planning to work outside of their home country should include at least one local collaborator on their team. The Committee will not usually consider applications that support strictly laboratory or collection of work. 
Three tracks are available: 
  • Early Career Grant
  • Standard Grant
  • Expedited Grant

NEW: PUB Overseas Seed Fund for Water Technologies Fact Sheet

The Public Utilities Board (PUB), Singapore’s National Water Agency, has published a call for proposals from international parties for disruptive water technologies. 
Grants of up to $400,000 are available for projects of up to 2 years.

James McDonnell Foundation Program- Understanding Teacher Change and
Teachers as Learners in K-12 Classrooms- LOI
 
The James S McDonnell Foundation (JSMF) is now funding research  on the science of teaching to expand our understanding of teachers as learners  and as agents of change. The Teachers as Learners (TAL) program emphasizes a
cognitive science perspective on teachers as learners, focusing on the  cognitive constraints that guide teacher thinking and change in attitudes,  knowledge, skills and behaviors.

NEW:  Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI): call for proposals

The current priority of the Polio Research Committee is to generate data supporting on the below key research priorities
  • Detection and interruption of all polio-virus transmission
  • Strengthening of immunization systems and withdrawal of oral polio vaccine

Europe in a Changing World

A confidential draft of the next work programme (collection of calls for proposals) has been received.
The  main topic categories are:
  • migration and the refugee crisis 
  • socioeconomic and cultural transformations of the fourth industrial revolution 
  • governance for the future
 
Due to the “rules of the game”, institutions are not allowed to post the draft on their public websites.

The Alexander von Humboldt Professorship provides grants that allow non-German academics to carry out ground-breaking research at universities and research institutions in  Germany.
