The Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development  - Genomic editing as a tool for developing products in the fields of flora and fauna
 
The Ministry invites studies in the field of genomic editing in animals, plants, fungi and algae on the following topics:
  • Development of agricultural products with improved properties, in which the knowledge required for genomic editing already exists.
  • Development of transformation systems for the advancement of genomic editing capabilities.
  • Identification and characterization of the target genes for genomic editing in order to develop the ability to provide resistance to diseases

(A) Vision Research Program
 
FY17 VRP Program Announcements and General Application Instructions for the following award mechanisms:
  • Clinical Trial Award - The proposed intervention to be tested should offer significant potential impact for military Service members, Veterans, and other individuals living with visual dysfunction. 
  • Technology and Therapeutic Development Award - Supports the translation of promising preclinical findings into products for clinical applications, including detection, diagnosis, treatment, or quality of life.  Products in development should be responsive to the healthcare needs of military Service members, Veterans, and other individuals living with visual dysfunction

(B) Multiple Sclerosis Research Program
 
FY17 MSRP Program Announcements and General Application Instructions for the following award mechanisms
  • Exploration: Hypothesis Development Award - supports the initial exploration of innovative, high-risk, high-gain, and potentially groundbreaking concepts in the MS research field. The studies supported by this award mechanism are expected to lay the groundwork for future avenues of scientific investigation.
  • Investigator Initiated Research Award - supports highly rigorous, high-impact research projects that have the potential to make an important contribution to MS research and/or patient care. Research projects may focus on any phase of research, excluding clinical trials.

(C) Lung Cancer Research Program 

FY17 LCRP Program Announcements and General Application Instructions for the following award mechanisms:
  • Idea Development Award - promotes new ideas that are still in the early stages of development and have the potential to yield impactful data and new avenues of investigation.
  • Investigator-Initiated Translational Research Award - supports basic science and clinical observations research that will develop promising ideas in lung cancer into clinical applications.
  • Translational Research Partnership Award – supports partnerships between clinicians and research scientists that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas in lung cancer into clinical applications.

  • Concept Award - supports the exploration of a highly innovative new concept or untested theory that addresses an important problem relevant to lung cancer.

  • Career Development Award - supports early-career, independent investigators to conduct impactful research under the mentorship of an experienced lung cancer researcher as an opportunity to obtain the funding, mentoring, and experience necessary for productive, independent careers at the forefront of lung cancer research.

NEW: Falck Foundation- Research Grants
 
The objectives of the FALCK FOUNDATION are to support scientific research and education targeting all aspects of prehospital care delivery including:
  • Quality metrics and measurement strategies 
  • Administration, logistics and operations
  • Effectiveness and safety of clinical care delivered by prehospital care providers
  • Scope of practice of prehospital care providers
  • Education and training of prehospital care providers
  • Cost effectiveness of prehospital care delivery 
  • National healthcare policy, legislative frameworks and financial models 
  • Related to prehospital care delivery
The Falck Foundation is especially interested in funding pilot studies and studies of a duration of up to one year

Bio-Based Initiative (BBI)
 
Europe’s Bio-Based Initiative (BBI) is about maximizing the recycling of agricultural waste and the active cultivation of biomass for conversion to energy.
Funding for BBI projects comes from Horizon 2020 and the European Bio-Industries Consortium.

Horizon 2020 Event  - Cyber in Transport Info Day
 
ISERD, Israel’s formal Liaison to Horizon 2020, is organizing a special meeting to allow all the Israeli “stakeholders” in Academia, Industry, and Government bodies in the realm of Cyber in Transport to get to know one another and begin forging relationships that will facilitate the submission of applications to the relevant topics in Horizon 2020.  Those topics are likely to be included in the next cycle of Horizon calls in Transport and in Security.
