A new NSF-BSF program in Chemical Engineering is expected soon

The BSF and the NSF Division of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental and Transport Systems have agreed in principle to expand the current agreement that includes only the Energy for Sustainability program. Israeli and U.S. scientists working in the following disciplines are expected to be able to submit joint applications in the fall of 2017:
  • Catalysis
  • Separations
  • Energy for Sustainability (an existing program)
  • Process Systems, Reaction Engineering, and Molecular Thermodynamics
  • Cellular and Biochemical Engineering
When the agreement is signed, a Call for Proposals will be published.

Cellular and Molecular Biology of Complex Brain Disorders

The proposed research projects need to address disorders of complex brain function underlying the regulation of cellular, molecular, and/or circuit activity pertaining to disorders. The sponsor has a high interest in applications that incorporate the longitudinal trajectory of biological changes into the experimental design. In addition, leveraging available new and/or unique resources is strongly encouraged.

Early consultation with RDA staff is essential - If you consider yourself a candidate or if you have collaborators, please update RDA as soon as possible in order to coordinate internal schedule.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship primarily funds stipends to newly minted Ph.Ds. from European Member States and Horizon Associated countries (which includes Israel) to pursue a post-doc in countries other than their own. The program awards grants in virtually all academic areas. The stipends are very lucrative and the competition is intense. BGU researchers might use the Marie Curie Fellowship in one of the following ways:

  • To recruit a European post-doc candidate.
  • To assist their own Ph.Ds. continue their academic development.

Although the program primarily funds post-docs it does not prohibit more senior researchers from submitting applications designed to allow them to add an important dimension to their research capacities.
An essential element of an application is an eligible institution (usually a  university or research center) outside of your own country who will be your partner in submitting the application. (Technically they actually submit the application in order to recruit you.)  RDA will provide guidance and support to any researcher submitting an application to recruit a post-doc.
