NATO- Science for Peace and Security

The Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme is a policy tool that enhances cooperation and dialogue with all partners, based on scientific research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. BGU experience shows that proposals that directly address NATO's Key Priorities have a reasonable chance of success. Budgets are around $300,000 for projects of up to 3 years.

Important note : NATO priority in research is for the following topics: Counter-Terrorism, Cyber Defence, Energy Security, Environmental Security and Disaster Management and Prevention.

Wellcome Genome Campus Conferences
Biomedical research, aiming to bridge the gap between basic and translational science

There is a strong correlation between the subjects of the upcoming Wellcome Genome Campus Conferences and topics in the confidential draft of the next Horizon 2020 Work Programme (Genomics, Big Data/Health, Bioinformatics, etc.). If your area of research is covered by the Wellcome Conferences (including hypertext) and you would like to know about topics in the Horizon Health draft that correspond to them contact Ephrat Messing Tel: 64 72436 or  Arnie Schlissel Tel: 64 77756

A research center of Brain medicine

Brain medicine has become more and more important in the developed world. Despite the development of basic research in the field within the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the development of clinical services and clinical scientific research, there is a disconnect between the researchers in the field of neuroscience within the faculty, and the rest of the university and clinical researchers.
Basic Researchers have difficulty gaining access to nearby clinical material, while clinical researchers do not even know their colleagues who are conducting research in the same field.
In order to bring together the basic and clinical researchers, a preliminary meeting took place a few months ago, in which 26 basic researchers and 26 clinicians participated. It was apparent that there is a great need and interest in establishing a central platform for discussion and cooperation between physicians and researchers in the field of brain medicine.
A research center in neuroscience will be set up in the framework of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Connecting Minds: The first phase of the Center's activities will focus mainly on the acquaintance of researchers from different fields, mapping various research programs in the field, establishing research infrastructures, and building future research programs.

If your research interests are somehow related to brain medicine, and you would like to join the community at the university, present your activity to basic researchers and clinicians, and find unconventional partners, we would be happy if you would forward your information by e-mail (name, e-mail address, department, and area of research).
We will update all registrants regarding the upcoming activity.
