DIP - German-Israel Research collaboration - call for internal pre-proposals

DFG is the agency that funds the DIP program, which  supports large-scale cutting edge collaborative research between German and Israeli scientists in all fields of research.
Each Israeli university is limited to submitting two proposals and BGU selects its 2 via an internal pre-proposal process.
Priority will be given to Inclusion of young researchers and former proven collaboration with a German partner.

RDA Pre-Proposal Deadline: November 30, 2017 until 12:00

NEW: The Epilepsy Innovation Institute (Ei2) – Letter of Intent

Ei2 has announced a call pairing longitudinal intracranial EEG recordings with a host of peripheral measurements to identify new relationships between brain state and non-invasive or minimally invasive read-outs.

A successful team will be composed of clinicians who can recruit participants with existing implanted intracranial devices, data scientists and device interoperability experts who can ensure successful data integration, and researchers who can propose different parameters to measure and analyze. Ei2 plans to fund at least $3 million to a team over a three-year period.

RDA Deadline for LOI: December 18, 2017

Climate Action and Sustainable Development: Cross-Cutting Issues in Horizon 2020

Climate action and sustainable development are prime examples of pressing societal challenges that need a multi-country approach. Within Horizon 2020, they are not only at the heart of Societal Challenge 5 “Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials”, but are considered key objectives across the entire Horizon 2020 programme and the different Work Programs. Consequently, at least 35% and 60% of Horizon 2020’s total budget is expected to address climate action and sustainable development, respectively.

Researchers should therefore consider their project’s expected contribution to climate action (efforts that contribute to mitigating climate change, adapt to its impacts and help understand the underlying causes) and sustainable development, whenever applicable.

The interim evaluation of Horizon 2020 has revealed that the targets for expenditure on climate and sustainability had not been met during the first years of the programme. There will thus be an increased focus on these aspects in the final Work Programme (2018-2020), in order to enable the European Commission to still meet the targets by the end of Horizon 2020. Evaluators are expected to pay even greater attention to whether proposals are planning to contribute to climate action and/or sustainable development and how – a clear vision on your project’s impact on climate and sustainable development is therefore likely to improve its assessment.

Changes in the BSF-NSF Program 2018

Please note the following changes in the Biology Program of the NSF:
  1. Submission of pre-proposals has been discontinued. The submission will be of full proposals only for both the DEB and the IOS (The official Calls for Proposals have not yet been published by the Agency).
  2. Starting in 2018, submission to all departments of the Biology Program will be without deadlines, and may be submitted at any time after the opening of the programs.
  3. The dates for the submission of full proposals for 2018 has not yet been announced, and will probably be published only during the summer of 2018. The submission of proposals in Cellular and Molecular Biology (MCB), scheduled for November 2017, will be held on time.
