BSF-NSF Joint Program in Computational Neuroscience
 
The U.S.-Israel Science Foundation (BSF) has announced the opening of a new round of applications in the Computational Neuroscience (CRCNS) joint funding program with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).

NEW: 2017 Request for Proposal - Research in Medical Clowning 

The Dream Doctors Medical Clowning project aims to further develop the practice of Medical Clowning by promoting it as a formally-structured, academic discipline.
 
Priority of 2017 funding in order of importance:
  1. Economic outcomes of integrating medical clowns into healthcare teams (e.g. cost effectiveness for healthcare institution, by reducing hospitalization rates and duration and treatment costs, etc.). 
  2. Measuring biologic endpoints of the effect of exposure to medical clowns (e.g. stress hormones, need for drugs: does and duration, recovery time). 
  3. New populations that benefit from exposure to medical clowning (only children up to age 18). 
  4. Original and innovative use of medical clowns

Pre-Announcement : The Forth Joint Transnational Call for Proposals 2017 will be
launched in December 2017. 
Call topic: “Translational research on rare cancers”

The specific challenge is to promote a transnational collaborative approach between scientific teams in demanding areas of translational cancer research while avoiding the duplication of efforts and ensuring a more efficient use of available resources, to produce significant results of higher quality and impact, and share data and infrastructures.

Pre-Announcement : EuroNanoMed is a network that supports European Multi-national research in nanomedicine.
Project proposals will address multidisciplinary and translational research. Project proposals will need to cover at least one of the following areas that are equal in relevance for this call:
  • Regenerative medicine 
  • Diagnostics 
  • Targeted delivery systems
BGU researchers have been partners in funded projects in each of the last 2 cycles.
The Call is expected to become official on November 14, with the anticipated deadline by mid - January.

Horizon 2020 – 'Europe in a changing World' Information Day and Brokerage Event
 
Focus areas: Migration, Socioeconomic and Cultural Transformations, Governance of the Future

The European Commission is organizing an Information Day and Brokerage Event for the Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 6 'Europe in a changing world – Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies' upcoming Work Program.
This Work Program focuses mainly on Social Sciences and Humanities and covers focus areas: Migration, Socioeconomic and Cultural Transformations, Governance of the Future.
The event is free of charge but limited to 2 persons representing the same department/organization.
Coordinators actively looking for project partners can present their project during a flash presentation session.

Please note that participant profiles have been uploaded to the event website with specific areas of activity and partner searches.

 Cybersecurity Workshop for Future Smart Mobility

CyberSpark Industry Initiative Ltd. is organizing the 1st Global Cyber Security Workshop for Future Smart Mobility, at BGU on October 30, 2017. 
This will be followed by the Fifth Annual Fuel Choices and Smart Mobility Summit, hosted by Israel's Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, on 31 October – 1 November, in Tel Aviv.
150 world leaders will congregate at this one-day workshop, with the aim of shaping how cyber risk will be managed in future transport systems, through the facilitation of thoughtful exchange of knowledge, best practice, and innovation, which will translate into an actionable work plan.

The European Big Data Value Forum 2017 (EBDFV)

The European Big Data Value Forum is a key European event for industry professionals, business developers, researchers, and policy makers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the European data economy and data-driven innovation in Europe.

All researchers interested in submitting a grant application to the ISF MUST register on the ISF website.
Registration is open until October 23, 2017.
Any researcher who does not register by this date will not be able to submit an ISF proposal.
