Horizon 2020 – Nanotechnologies, Materials and Processing Success Story:
ReSHEALience Project

Rethinking coastal defence and Green-Energy Service infrastructures through enHancEd-durAbiLIty high-performance fiber reinforced cement-based materials

The ReSHEALience project is aimed at developing an ultra-high durable concrete and an assessment-based design methodology for structural elements, and predict their long term performance under extremely aggressive exposures.
The project relates to marine infrastructures for geothermal/biomass energy plants exposed to severe conditions, which challenge their performance, lead to quick deterioration and shorten their lifespan, resulting in billions of Euro spent each year for repairs.
The proposed improvement is expected to yield ultra-high performance fiber-reinforced concrete with new functionalities.
The competence garnered by all the partners will put them in the forefront of the field of civil engineering in order to provide sustainable solutions for the most challenging needs of our society.
The contribution of BGU researchers is to design innovative building materials, employing textiles and nanofillers, and testing the upgraded concrete performance under various exposure conditions. The project is planned to begin January 2018.
