Horizon 2020 - Future FET Flagships

The Call for Preparatory Actions for the new FET Flagships is now open.
FET Flagships are long term and large scale research initiatives driven by an ambitious vision. They tackle major science and technology challenges expected to result in 'game changing' impacts that benefit economy and society and pave the way to the technological and industrial leadership of the EU.

The future FET Flagships Call has been launched as part of the Horizon 2020 FET Work Programme 2018-2020. These preparatory actions will include activities to help candidate Flagships form and develop their consortia, governance and science and technology roadmap. They also need to build large public support and secure industry endorsement and participation. This may lead to up to two new Flagships to be launched in the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

Three major areas where promising grand science and technology challenges were identified as the future FET Flagships
  • ICT for connected society: Smart Materials and Nanoscale Engineering, Robotics, Interfaces and Artificial Intelligence and ICT for Social Interaction and Culture
  • Health and Life Science: Disruptive technologies to Revolutionise Healthcare and Understanding Life by Exploring the Genome and the Cell
  • Environment, Climate and Energy: Earth, Climate Change and Natural Resources and  Radically new Energy Production, Conversion and Storage devices and systems
This call aims at launching Consortium for Coordination and Support Actions (CSA) Projects to prepare new candidate FET Flagships.

Deadline: February 20, 2018 (First Stage), September 18, 2018 (Second Stage)
Budget: Up to 1M€ per project
