Ministry of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources - Water JPI 2018 Joint Call (Pre-proposals)

This call addresses research and innovation to support the implementation of EU water policy, in particular, on the thematic area “Closing the Water Cycle Gap – Sustainable Management of Water Resources”, which is organized around three challenges:
  1. Enabling sustainable management of water resources.
  2. Strengthening socio-economic approaches to water management.
  3. Supporting tools for sustainable integrative management of water resources.
Proposals should focus on fresh waters and may consider transitional waters; those on marine system will not be eligible.
 
Each consortium submitting a proposal should include at least three 3 eligible independent partners coming from 3 different countries participating in the call.
 
To clarify procedures with National Contact Points and Call secretariat, a Webinar will be held on March 12, 2018.

The Israel Water Authority – 2018 Call for Pre-Proposals

The Water Authority has issued its annual call in the field of water and water technologies.
Research Areas of Interest described on pages 9-14 of the call.

The Office of the Vice President and Dean for Research and Development has issued several internal calls for interdisciplinary research on the following topics:
 
1. Brain Research
The aim of this call is to fund innovative multidisciplinary research and to encourage new collaborations between clinicians from the Brain Medicine Division in the Faculty of Health Sciences and other faculty members from different disciplines and/or faculties of BGU.

2. Water Research
This call invites research proposals in the field of Water, with emphasis on Water Technologies. The aim of the call is to fund original multidisciplinary collaboration on water topics with affinity to the industry and developing new technologies.

3. Smart Mobility
This call invites research proposals in the field of Smart Mobility, the aim of which is to crystallize cutting edge (BGU-based) multidisciplinary research to establish the basis for submitting applications to external funding sources within a reasonable timeframe.

The Cure Parkinson’s Trust

The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) funds and facilitates laboratory or clinical research projects with the potential to advance knowledge that might lead to the following results:
  1. A cure for Parkinson’s disease.
  2. A substantial advance in treatment (for example, novel approaches to treatment, or new methods of treatment delivery).

Russel Sage Foundation – Social Science Research (Letter of Inquiry)

The foundation accepts research proposals within the frame work of its program on Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration. This program encourages multi-disciplinary perspectives on the social, economic, and political effects of the changing racial and ethnic composition of the U.S. population, including the transformation of communities and ideas about what it means to be American.
 
The LoI must be no longer than four pages, excluding references.

Horizon 2020 FET-Open – Novel Ideas for Radically New Technologies
 
Visionary thinking can open up promising avenues towards powerful new technologies.
Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) is a bottom-up scheme that applies to all research and innovation topics and disciplines.
FET-Open aims to path-find Europe’s technological future by presenting radically new, high-risk ideas and accelerate development of the most promising emerging areas of science and technology.

In the last cycles of the FET program, BGU researchers have been involved in two winning proposals:
  • Prof. Raz Jelineck with Catch-U-DNA 
  • Dr. Eytan Grosfeld with HiTIMe
The call for the next cut-off date of the FET-Open Programme is now open.

Human Subject Research Committee

The Human Subject Research Committee has recently been restructured and reorganized.
 
Under the chairmanship of Dr. Shlomo Cohen, the Committee now meets regularly, once a month, to discuss submissions for ethics approval. Representatives from each faculty sit on the committee to ensure expertise in various fields.

All researchers who require Ethics Approval for research are required to pass the CITI course.
