The National Foundation for Applied and Engineering Scientific Research under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space has issued a call for pre-proposals in the fields of Engineering Sciences.

Maccabi Institute for Research & Innovation | Call for Pre-proposals

The Maccabi Institute for Research & Innovation was established by Maccabi Health Services to promote and encourage research activities in Maccabi, while expanding the possibilities for research by collaborating with researchers and external research organizations.
 
The foundation's research priorities for this year's cycle are:
  • The role of the family in the health of the patient;
  • Genetic and biological predictors of family health;
  • Psychosocial factors in family health;
  • The impact of pregnancy on the health of the child and the adult.

Global Grand Challenges & Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation – Pilot Awards

Grand Challenges is a family of initiatives fostering innovation to solve key global health and development problems.
The foundation has recently announced the opening of a new grant opportunity:
Universal Influenza Vaccine Development Grand Challenge
 
Pilot awards do not require an industry or translation partner but such partnerships would still be welcome.

Volkswagen Stiftung – "EXPERIMENT! - In search of Bold Research Ideas"

'Experiment' supports daring new research concepts in science and engineering, and in the life sciences (including behavioral sciences) through a fast and small grant scheme.

Research projects must be led by a German researcher.

Horizon 2020 Spotlight
Horizon 2020 – Collaboration Opportunity through COST Actions 
 
COST Actions (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) provides fertile grounds for creating a Horizon 2020 Consortium. COST Actions supports networking across a wide range of disciplines (though not research). Previous and current collaborations may lead to new joint projects in the future.
