Pre-Announcement - Ministry of Science, Technology and Space - A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life (HDHL) - ERA-Net HDHL-INTIMIC
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Space, together with JPI HDHL (part of Horizon 2020) have announced a joint call.
The call - “Knowledge Platform on Food, Diet, Intestinal Microbiomics and Human Health” - aims at coordinating national and regional research programmes in the areas of diet, intestinal microbiomics and human health as well as nutrition and human health in general. Research activities should focus on the current research challenges in the field, for example: - Standardisation and harmonisation - Data handling, knowledge and data sharing - Move from association to causality
Official publication of the call with more information is expected on September 4, 2018.
The Expression of Interest submission deadline is tentatively scheduled for October 9, 2018

NEW - Biomarkers Across Neurodegenerative Diseases (BAND) - Letter of Intent
The Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Research UK, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and the Weston Brain Institute announced a global Request for Applications.
The main objective of BAND is to stimulate analyses across Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases to increase understanding of pathogenesis similarities and differences.

Volkswagen Stiftung – Life? – A Fresh Scientific Approach to the Basic Principles of Life - Proposal Outlines
This funding initiative aims to encourage and support projects that contribute to comprehending fundamental principles of life by connecting excellent research in the natural and life sciences.
Potential research areas: Synthetic, Systems or Cell Biology, Xenobiology as well as Biophysics, Prebiotic Chemistry.
Application process comprises a two-stage review: 1st stage - project outlines; 2nd stage - full proposals upon invitation. Applicants whose project outlines pass the 1st stage will be invited to submit full proposals.
Research projects must be led by a German researcher.

11th HOPE Meeting with Nobel Laureates in Japan
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Space will nominate up to 6 young scientists to participate in the HOPE meeting.
These meetings give an opportunity for the participants to engage in interdisciplinary discussions with Nobel
laureates and other distinguished scientists.
Eligibility:
Ph.D. Student or young researcher (within 5 years from his/her PhD as of 1 April 2018). Active in one of the following fields: Physics, Chemistry, Physiology/Medicine, or other related fields.
Please note: Travel expenses have to be covered by the researchers.
