Call for Proposals
We are pleased to inform you that the joint programs of BSF-NSF have decided to make the following changes:
1. The amount of the grants will be increased for new and on-going projects that have an end date of September 30, 2019:
  • Experimental Grants up to NIS 290,000 per year
  • Theoretical Grants up to NIS 205,000 per year
  • Grants with both Experimental and Theoretical nature will be determined accordingly .
2. In view of the significant reduction in the number of submissions in the programs that can be submitted throughout the year (without a DEADLINE):
  • A second proposal can be submitted simultaneously
Please see below the list of Programs without a deadline:
  • Cyber Security and Privacy (SaTC)
  • Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB)
  • Integrative Biological Systems (IOS)
  • Environmental Biology (DEB)
  • Earth Sciences (GEO)
  • Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems (ECCS)
  • Chemical Engineering and Energy (CBET)
  • Marine Geology and Geophysics (MG & G)
  • Ceramics (CER)
  • Condensed Matter and Materials Theory (CMMT)
This change is temporary and will be checked from time to time regarding cost and contribution.

Horizon 2020 Spotlight

Human Cell Atlas Call 2019

The Horizon 2020 Health 2019 Human Cell Atlas Call Deadline is fast approaching on April 16, 2019 (Single Stage submission) with a budget of € 3-5M per project.

Pilot actions to build the foundations of a human cell atlas
To better understand human health, as well as improving the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of diseases, greater knowledge is needed of the diverse cells found within the human body. Recent developments in single cell technologies, analytical methods and computational tools allow for unprecedented characterisation of human cells. A novel approach to address this challenge is the international Human Cell Atlas initiative (HCA) which will create molecular reference maps of all human cells .

Each pilot action should demonstrate the utility of an interdisciplinary technological/biological platform to generate and integrate standardised molecular, cellular, biochemical and other data sets, characterising single cells or their nuclear components, their interactions and/or spatial location in tissues from one human organ. Platforms supporting analysis of tissues from more than one organ are also in scope. The primary focus should be on healthy tissues, though comparison between healthy and diseased tissues could be appropriate. Sex, age and ethnicity comparisons could also be considered.

The potential scientific scope and organisation, including the community values to be adhered to by participating researchers, are described in a recent white paper.

Please see the following link to the full call text: SC1-BHC-31-2019: Pilot actions to build the foundations of a human cell atlas
