German-Israeli Cooperation in Cancer Research
Call for Project Pre-Proposals
As part of the German-Israeli Cooperation Program (BMBF-MOST) framework in Cancer Research, the Israel Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in coordination with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), hereby announce that German and Israeli scientists are invited to submit joint pre-proposals for innovated research projects on all topics related to cancer research.
Clinical trials are not suited for this program.
Funding for the approved projects is subject at all times to continued budget availability.

NEW - Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative invites applications in support of open source software projects that are essential to biomedical research. The goal of the program is to support software maintenance, growth, development, and community engagement for these critical tools.
Applications for two broad categories of open source projects will be considered:
● Domain-specific software for analyzing, visualizing, and otherwise working with the specific data types that arise in biomedical science.
● Foundational tools and infrastructure that enable a wide variety of downstream software across several domains of science and computational research.
Grants will be awarded for a one-year duration and can request funding between $50k and $250k.

LCRF Pilot Grant Program
The Lung Cancer Research Foundation’s annual pilot grant program provides funding for research focused on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer.
LCRF pilot grants will provide $150,000 over a period of two years for projects in one or more of the following areas of lung cancer research:
• Lung cancer biology
• Prevention and screening for early detection
• Identification of new biomarkers and the development of targeted therapies
• Development of more effective and less toxic therapies
• Supportive measures for people with lung cancer and their families
• Quality of care and outcomes research

JOY Ventures Foundation has opened the registration for the 2019 program - LOI
Proposals must include basic science, early technologies, advanced research, or applied approaches that will provide new solutions to one or more of the following, focusing on healthy people: - Emotion regulation or emotion sensing. Resilience, homeostasis and allostasis
- Sensory neuromodulation
- Technological means for alleviating stress or uplifting mood. Approaches for understanding, monitoring and anticipating emotional states and mood
- Neuroscience of habit formation & habitual behavior in humans
- Human-machine interactions
There is an option to choose between three tracks: 1 - Innovative technologies 2 - Basic science 3 - Pilot
Funding of the research in the first two tracks is up to $200,000 for two years. The third track can receive funding up to $20,000 for one year.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE SELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION EXPERT GROUPS
The European Commission has issued a call for experts to join the Mission Board, which will recommend identifying and implementing tasks in the next EU Framework Program - Horizon Europe.
The purpose of the tasks is to significantly increase the impact of research and innovation in EU funding by setting ambitious, measurable, and time-limited targets around issues affecting the daily lives of citizens. For this purpose, the Commission is interested in attracting people from all over the world who can bring skills and strategic expertise from all possible fields of expertise to support mission characterization.
Five committees, comprising 15 members, will be formed in each of the areas listed below:
