The Research and Development Authority Newsletter- June 11, 2019

All research proposals must be reviewed and approved by the RDA before submission.

Advance Notice

The BSF is happy to inform that 3 new NSF divisions are expected to join the NSF-BSF cooperation:
1. Mathematical Sciences (including Statistics)
2. Astronomical Sciences (including Astrophysics)
3. Atmospheric an Geospace Sciences

The cooperation with Israel will include all the core programs of these divisions.

If awarded a grant, the U.S. researcher will be funded by the NSF, while the Israeli researcher will be funded by the BSF, using funds it receives for this purpose from the Israel Council of Higher Education. These new programs will not be “special programs” with NSF funds being set aside for them, rather, the joint U.S.-Israeli applications will compete with the regular applications to the NSF in these fields, and will draw from the same pot of money. This means that there is no effective limit on the success rates of the joint U.S.-Israeli applications, and occasionally, in the existing programs, the success rate of the joint applications reaches 100%.

The NSF grants to the U.S. researchers are expected to be standard, while grants by the BSF to the Israelis, are expected to be larger than classical BSF grants , and equivalent in size to ISF grants.

BSF Calls for proposals to the three new programs (Calls will be activated only after the NSF will formally announce the programs).

Horizon 2020 Spotlight

Collaboration Opportunity through COST Actions

COST Actions -  European Cooperation in Science and Technology.
Cost Actions provide fertile grounds for creating a Horizon 2020 Consortium and support networking across a wide range of disciplines (though not research). Previous and current collaborations may lead to new joint projects in the future.
On 4 June 2019, the COST governing board, the Committee of Senior Officials, confirmed the funding of 40 new COST Actions, starting in Autumn 2019.

Have a look at the newly approved COST Actions and find the one that matches with your profile!

The full Action details will be available on 25 June.

If you would like to become a member of one of the COST Actions, please contact
