NSF-BSF Environmental Biology Program
The NSF-BSF Environmental Biology Program supports fundamental research on populations, species, communities, and ecosystems. Scientific emphases range across many evolutionary and ecological patterns and processes at all spatial and temporal scales.
Areas of research include:
Biodiversity, phylogenetic systematics, molecular evolution, life history evolution, natural selection, ecology, biogeography, ecosystem structure, function and services, conservation biology, global change, and biogeochemical cycles.
Research on organismal origins, functions, relationships, interactions, and evolutionary history may incorporate field, laboratory, or collection-based approaches; observational or manipulative experiments; synthesis activities; as well as theoretical approaches involving analytical, statistical, or computational modeling.
This program has no deadline and is open for submission throughout the year.

ERA PerMed Call on Personalised Medicine - Call for Pre-proposals
The Israel Ministry of Health and ERA PerMed (cofunded by the European Commission) have published a call for proposals on the topic of
Personalised Medicine: Multidisciplinary Research towards Implementation.
Proposals submitted under this call are expected to demonstrate the applicability of project outcomes to clinical practice as well as to describe the impact on the health care systems.
The current call will comprise three Research Areas: Research area 1: "Translating Basic to Clinical Research and Beyond" Research area 2: "Integrating Big Data and ICT Solutions" Research area 3: "Research towards Responsible Implementation in Health Care" For more specific requirements concerning the topics, please refer to "Aim of the Call" on page 5 of the Call Text below.
Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve 3-6 eligible partners from at least 3 different countries participating in the call (see Contact Details of Participating Members).

Ministry of Health and the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) - Call for Pre-proposals
The Israel Ministry of Health and The EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) have published the 2nd joint transnational call for innovative research projects in Personalised Medicine for neurodegenerative diseases.
The Call will focus on Precision Medicine in the following research areas:
- Diagnosis
- Prevention
- Care
This joint programme will fund research projects on Personalised Medicine, that may in time bring about the delivery of targeted and timely prevention and therapies for patients of the following neurodegenerative diseases:
- Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
- Parkinson’s disease and PD‐related disorders
- Prion diseases
- Motor neuron diseases
- Huntington’s disease
- Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA)
- Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)
Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve 3-6 partners from at least 3 different countries participating in the call (see section 1 of the Call Text).

Ministry of Science, Technology and Space - A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life (HDHL) - ERA-Net HDHL-INTIMIC - Pre-Announcement
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Space, together with JPI HDHL (part of Horizon 2020) have released a pre-announcement for a joint call on the topic:
“Impact of Diet, Food Components and Food Processing on Body Weight Regulation and Overweight Related Metabolic Diseases (METADIS)”.
The aim of this call is to support transnational, collaborative research projects that address important research questions regarding the effects of food (components) or diets and/or food processing on overweight and related metabolic diseases.
Official publication of the call with more information is expected on February 5, 2019.
Submission deadline pre-proposals is tentatively scheduled for
April 2, 2019.

Understanding ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) - Dataset Analysis - Letter of Intent
This funding opportunity focuses on increasing the basic understanding of autism – from genetics to behavior – by analyzing datasets generated by Autism Speaks. These grants will not collect new data but rather give researchers support in investigating new hypotheses or relationships using existing datasets (specific information about the datasets can be found in the Call Details below).
Please note: Preference will be given to early career investigators, who are defined as postdoctoral fellows or as assistant professors with three or fewer years at this rank. However, senior investigators can apply.
